TRA owns and operates four water treatment and/or supply facilities, five wastewater treatment facilities, one reservoir and one recreation facility. TRA also acts as the local sponsor for three other reservoirs owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The services each facility provides are contracted for by cities, municipalities or districts; the contracting parties have agreed to pay their pro-rata share of the cost of debt service and operation-and-maintenance expenses of each facility. Each TRA operating or financing endeavor is an independent financial entity, and TRA's board of directors exercises oversight responsibility for each facility. TRA receives neither revenues from a direct tax base nor appropriations from the state or federal government.
