DISCHARGE PIPELINE FAILURE CAUSES OUTFLOW IN TRINITY RIVER AUTHORITY WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM

(ARLINGTON, TEXAS) – A Trinity River Authority discharge line within its Denton Creek Regional Wastewater System experienced an outflow of treated wastewater, known as effluent, on Tuesday, Nov. 29. A pipeline failure caused an effluent outflow before reaching the permitted outfall structure. This outflow presents no danger to human health or the environment.

Repairs are currently underway.

All wastewater overflows in excess of 100,000 gallons must be reported to Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the public and other designated public officials. The final estimated quantity of the effluent outflow will be reported to the TCEQ.

No public drinking water supplies were threatened or contaminated by this overflow. TRA has notified all required city, county and state officials.
