TRINITY RIVER AUTHORITY OF TEXAS RESCINDS STAGE 1 DROUGHT CONTINGENCY MEASURES

(ARLINGTON, TEXAS) – The Stage 1 Drought Contingency measures initiated on Sept. 30, for the city of Corsicana based on the declining water levels of Navarro Mills Lake, are rescinded. As of Dec. 11, the Navarro Mills elevation was 421.63, and it has remained above the 421.5 threshold that triggered the Stage 1 drought measures.

The city of Corsicana is one of four of TRA’s wholesale raw water customers that have access to the lake. Corsicana is currently the only customer that uses water from the lake.

“We would not have gotten to this point without the vigilant community efforts to conserve water indoors and outdoors,” said Matt Jalbert, TRA executive manager, northern region. “We ask that the community continue its conservation efforts; as La Niña conditions linger, the National Weather Service expects warmer and drier than normal conditions across Texas during the first quarter of 2023.”

The Trinity River Authority of Texas continuously monitors lake levels and reviews data on a regular basis to project drought triggers.
