Trinity River Authority Reports a Wastewater Overflow in Desoto
(ARLINGTON, TEXAS) – The Trinity River Authority has reported a second sanitary sewer overflow in its collection system involving a manhole near 714 East Pleasant Run Road in the city of DeSoto. The overflow has been contained. A plug, which was put in place to contain the flow, failed. The plug has been replaced. The overflows spilled into Ten Mile Creek near Clear Springs Drive.
TRA and its contractors are still working at the site to clean up the affected area. All wastewater overflows in excess of 100,000 gallons must be reported to TCEQ, the public and other designated public officials. The final estimated quantity of the overflow will be reported to TCEQ. No public drinking water supplies were threatened or contaminated by this overflow. TRA has notified all required city, county and state officials.

- Appropriate local governmental officials have been notified.
- TCEQ regional office has been notified.
- The spill has been contained.
- The cause of the spill has been corrected.
- Clean-up activities are in progress.
